Aftercare

Heavy exercise is not recommended for 1-2 weeks after getting tattooed. Sweating can loosen the bandage and damage the tattoo, and especially avoid using dirty gym equipment.

Do not expose your healing tattoo to direct sunlight or tanning beds.

Avoid swimming for at least 4 weeks. No lakes or rivers for 8 weeks.

Recommended soap: Plain, liquid, anti-bacterial hand soap such as Dial, or plain castille soap.

Recommended moisturizer: Plain unscented lotion such as Lubriderm, or the aftercare lotion provided.

Dermal bandage aftercare instructions:

Leave the bandage on for 3-5 days. The bandage is water resistant so showers are fine, but do not submerge in standing water. If bandage peels back and exposes the tattoo, or if fluid leaks out of the bandage, remove the bandage and follow traditional aftercare.

After 3-5 days, remove the bandage by finding an edge and pulling it back over itself in a downward direction. Removing the bandage in a warm shower will help loosen the adhesive, making it more comfortable to remove.

Wash the tattoo with mild antibacterial soap and warm water. Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Apply a light layer of moisturizer with clean hands. Repeat 2-3 times a day for 7 days.

Traditional aftercare instructions:

Remove bandage. Wash with mild antibacterial soap and warm water. Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Apply a thin layer of moisturizer with clean hands. Wash and moisturize 2-3 times a day for the next 2 weeks. Apply moisturizer as needed.

Do not pick or scratch the peeling skin.

Do not soak the tattoo.

Do not expose to direct sunlight or tanning beds.

Wear loose, clean clothing over the tattooed area. Avoid contact with pets and animal fur.
